After the Walden Sessions EP (Spettro Records), Trevisan makes his comeback with his personal electronic project Sheeba Exp., relying on the joint effort of Svbterrean Tapes and Timeless Records.
Urals is a cathartic journey across the most isolated territories of the artist's emotional landscape; a glacial interpretation of human feeling reflecting a deep sense of disintegration and subsequent need for repair. An experience as oneiric as it is existentially regenerative, unfolding between power ambient movements and upward distortions.
The record takes its name and attitude from the forlorn imagery of Man-Pupu-Nyor (the little mountain of the gods) a magical geological legacy carved in the depths of the Ural mountains in Russia, wherein seven rock giants reign over the lonely post-Soviet natural landscape.
Legend has it that a shaman turned those evil giants into stone, at the price of being petrified by his own magic.
The soundscape of the opening track, much like the Ural plateau, lashed by unstable weather, drastically oscillates between states of cathartic calm and atmo-emotional disturbances. Conversely U2 embarks on a never-ending ascensional movement, ever verticalising till reaching contemplative peaks. U3 brings the journey to an end by sublimating the dreamlike-tension and turbulence of the previous acts, letting the listener slide into a translucent vision.
Samples taken from Borg, The Sound of Trees Falling on People, Seekae (U1); The Future Sound of Music, Perdition City, Ulver (U2); Lost in Moments, Perdition City, Ulver (U3).
